A Movement to Prevent Floods and Water Crises with Biopore Infiltration Holes
Educating the public on water conservation through campaigns, community outreach, and hands-on learning.
Together with communities to implement Biopore infiltration holes on a wide scale to prevent floods and water crises.
Opening collaboration opportunities with various stakeholders to achieve a shared vision of environmental sustainability
The movement began in 2017, initiated by Maesa Group through the implementation of biopore infiltration holes (LRB) in Ponorogo, East Java, and has now expanded into a national movement of #MenabungAir reaching more than 16 cities across Indonesia. #MenabungAir di lebih dari 19 kota di Indonesia.
A study by the World Resources Institute (WRI) indicates that Indonesia is at high risk of experiencing a water crisis by 2040.
Floods affect several regions in Indonesia during the rainy season due to land subsidence and poor water absorption.

We focus on using biopore technology as a solution. Biopores are not the sole solution to Indonesia’s water problems, but when implemented collectively on a large scale, they can effectively address multiple water issues.
The Menabung Air movement has expanded across multiple cities in Indonesia. Starting with a single biopore infiltration hole in Ponorogo, it has grown into a national action reaching areas prone to flooding and water crises.

Widespread implementation of biopore infiltration holes in areas vulnerable to flooding and water crises.
Every biopore infiltration hole represents a real action to protect the future of Indonesia’s water. As of June 2025, this movement continues to grow and take action.

A major milestone for water conservation in Indonesia. On 18 November 2025, Menabung Air Foundation (MAF) was officially accepted as a member of the World Water Council (WWC) and joined College 4 – Civil Society Organizations.
What does this mean for us? This is more than a symbolic status—it is a concrete step onto the global stage. As a civil society organization with international recognition, MAF now stands alongside global leaders in Marseille, France, the hub of the global water conservation movement and home of the World Water Forum.
